Graphic Designer
& Illustrator

I’m a graphic designer, illustrator, and board game industry specialist with seven years of experience creating immersive tabletop game visuals. I’ve led and collaborated on projects with major publishers, designing game layouts, iconography, marketing materials, and tradeshow assets. Beyond board games, I run my own art business, selling original watercolor artwork and prints. Whether designing for a game or creating unique illustrations, I’m passionate about crafting visuals that connect with people.

The Cube: Area 51

What is it?

You are a department head at Area 51, assigned to The Cube reconstruction project. Manipulate, move, tessellate, and plan as you work to rebuild the alien craft with your fellow department heads. You’re all working together to reactivate the ship, but only one of you can be the ship’s captain and interface with the companion AI! Which department will gain control over The Cube?

The Task at Hand

The Cube was assigned to me in early 2021. It was my responsibility to complete all art assets and assist my Creative Director with graphic design and layout.

Early Concepting and Character Building

The original goal was to give the characters and environment a retro, 1960’s-Sci feel, but then later shifted to embracing a strictly, 1960’s vibe in an Area 51 environment. With each character’s backstory provided to me in a typed-up Google Doc., it was my job to bring them each to life and translate the writer’s vision.

Final Arts and Layout

With art concepts finalizing, it was time to take those assets and start laying out the box, cards, tokens, etc. My Creative Director created the design for the cards, rulebook and tokens, while I worked on laying out the front and back of the box. Originally, we wanted make the box dimensions actual cube-sized so that the box itself replicated the space craft players would build in the game. Unfortunately, due to too high of print costs, we couldn’t justify the idea and decided to still create a look and feel of the ship, but with more standardized game dimensions. Together, we worked as a team to conquer this project and send it to print by deadline.
